Character Profiles
Meet the Valley Guides
The Valley of Calm has a full cast of helpers. Each one represents an emotional tool children can learn, practise, and carry into everyday life.
In the Valley of Calm, each friend has their own gentle way of helping. Some help with brave first steps, some with slowing down, some with naming feelings, and some simply stay close when a feeling needs time.
Valley Friends
Meet the Character Guides
Each character brings a different kind of help to the Valley of Calm, from noticing and naming feelings to courage, patience, gratitude, calm, and encouragement.

Empathy and Curiosity
Menthol Elf
“Let’s notice this feeling together.”
Menthol Elf is curious, gentle, observant, and always learning. His peppermint sparkle dust helps everyone pause and breathe.

Mindfulness
Willow the Wise Fox
“Take one slow breath and see what you notice.”
Willow moves slowly, speaks calmly, and often invites a breathing exercise before any advice is offered.

Courage
Bumble the Brave Bee
“Brave can feel fluttery, and you can still try.”
Bumble helps children understand that being brave does not mean not being scared. It means trying anyway, one small step at a time.

Emotional Awareness
Nora the Noticing Gnome
“Let’s look for the clues this feeling is giving us.”
Nora is observant and curious. She looks for clues in faces, bodies, places, and words so feelings can be named kindly.

Sadness and Release
Drizzle the Listening Cloud
“Tears can help feelings move.”
Drizzle listens quietly, normalises tears, and gives sadness a soft place to be felt without pressure to cheer up quickly.

Patience and Pause
Tuck the Thoughtful Turtle
“Pause. Think. Choose.”
Tuck is slow, steady, and deliberate. He helps children pause before choosing what to do next.

Confidence and Perseverance
Pip the Confidence Squirrel
“Trying again helps confidence grow.”
Pip practises openly and models trying again. She carries the Confidence Acorn as a hopeful symbol.

Gratitude
Glimmer the Gratitude Butterfly
“Small good things can still shine beside hard feelings.”
Glimmer helps children notice small good things while still respecting harder feelings that may be present too.

Emotional Regulation
Ripple the Calm Frog
“Slow breaths can help your body feel calmer.”
Ripple uses breathing rhythms and sensory grounding to support calm without asking a feeling to disappear.

Encouragement
Freddie the Encouraging Firefly
“You are doing better than you think.”
Freddie offers hopeful support during challenge. His golden light brightens when someone keeps trying.
